You’ve probably seen me harp on about the power of Aweber before, I use it to build lists for every campaign I run & also on almost every affiliate product based website I have.

I’m going to share with you a small secret that will help you triple your profits on landing pages in three different ways. This technique works best with product reviews, but I’m sure you’ll find a way to make it work with your niche.

Capturing Data

This technique works by capturing the customers data before you send them on to the purchase/presell page of the product that you’re reviewing. By far the easiest way to do this is to offer them a bonus download (worth $50 – $100) that is related to the product in question.

Here’s a brief example I found that uses this technique with Ebooks:

Redirecting the User

As soon as the user types in their name & email address you can use an input type in the form code to redirect them to the landing page of the product you’re reviewing. This redirect is normally used to send someone to a thankyou page:

[coolcode]
[/coolcode]

This will then give the user the option to buy the original product & an email offering the downloadable product will be in their inbox (they’ll also be subscribed to your list).

If you get the free download right it can have a massive influence on the chance of a conversion for the main product.

Choosing a Bonus Product

I’ll always try to choose something that relates as closely as possible to the main product. If you’re doing a review of Aweber & want to capture addresses then you might give away a free 30,000 opt-in mailing list (which of course would be useless to them without an email marketing product such as aweber). That’s just an example but you get the idea.

Profiting

So you now have the ability to profit 3 times from this scenario:

Main Product: If your review is good & your bonus product fits you’ll hopefully convert here easily.
Bonus Product: If you have time on your hands it’s possible to use the bonus product to generate profit. Write an ebook or guide on using Aweber (or whichever product you’re promoting) & give it away free (packed full of your affiliate links of course). Don’t forget to also add any complimentary products to the bonus too (like Web Hosting or WordPress Templates etc). This also acts as a safety buffer, if the person decides not to buy the main product now, they may read the bonus product & buy from there.
Mailing List: You also now have an active member of your mailing list that you can provide newsletters, tips & tricks or more product reviews to. This is invaluable, without it, that person would be gone forever & you’d probably have little chance of ever selling to them again.

Test Drive Aweber

Aweber is allowing affiliates to test drive the system for free for 30 days. With the guarantee that:

If, for any reason, you have not captured more website visitors to follow up and increase profits then receive a 100% hassle-free refund.

It starts out at $19 & increases depending on how many subscribers you have. I have 1 account with around 600 subscribers that generates me anywhere between $300 – $1000+ every time I mail the list. I’ll leave it up to you to figure out which niches are most responsive to email offers.

Getting solid Conversions from PPC can be tough, we all know that...

Getting solid Conversions from PPC can be tough, we all know that. Finding that “secret sauce” can be frustrating, especially when you’re experimenting in a new niche & building new campaigns from scratch.

However, for those of you that do PPC & don’t try to capture an email address at any point during the transaction are seriously losing out in potential revenue & recurring revenue.

Lets take these two scenarios below:

Scenario 1

Imagine this, you’re using PPC to send traffic to the merchants landing page. They don’t convert. The customer is lost forever & you’ve just wasted money on trying to convert them. They then come back another day through someone else’s affiliate link & make a purchase. Even worse, the customer DOES convert but you have no opportunity to upsell to them at a later date.

Scenario 2

Now imagine sending your customer to a landing page. Preselling them the product then offering them a “special gift.” In order to get this gift they need to opt into your mailing list. Most will. You can now send the customer on their merry way to the merchant site & at least if they don’t convert you’ll have an opportunity to resell to them at a later date. Even better, if they do convert then they’re more likely to respond to future offers. A Win win situation.

Naturally, scenario 2 is where we want to be. If you’re agressive with PPC on a particular offer it is possible to collect thousands of targeted leads from opt-in forms whilst also getting the conversions you normally would. You now however also have another revenue stream.

Your mailing list.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be going into detail on how to use Aweber to get the most from your opt-in lists & maximise your revenue. Most experienced Internet Marketers will tell you that their list is the lifeblood of their income. And this is true.

Think about this, if Google went out of business tomorrow (hypothecially) would your income take a serious hit? Damn right it would! But what if your list generated most of your revenue? Think about it.

What’s the morale of this story?

If you’re sending traffic via PPC to landing pages & not trying to capture email addresses somewhere on that page you are wasting money.

If you want to check out a good autoresponder & effective mailing list program check Aweber.

Do not underestimate having a mailing list. It is one of the most powerful marketing tools you’ll ever have in your arsenal...

Do not underestimate having a mailing list. It is one of the most powerful marketing tools you’ll ever have in your arsenal. I run quite a large mailing list on a few of my sites & they’ve always been very successful at:

Generating quick revenue bursts

Getting lapsed members & readers to become active again

Collecting a mailing list can be a daunting task, especially when you’ve never had any experience with it. But don’t be alarmed it’s not as difficult as you might think.

Firstly you need the software to collect the names & put them in a database. I use Aweber (19.99/month, you can try it free for 30 days) for this but if you don’t want to pay a $19.99/month you can use PHPlist or Zoodoka.

Once you’ve created a form for the user to submit the data you need to make sure your mailing lists are targeted. There’s no point collecting data from all your websites & putting it into one big database if the websites are about different subjects.

Keep each list as targeted as possible, that way you don’t scare subscribers off by sending them information they didn’t sign up for.

So what are my top ways of gathering list subscribers:

Create a Forum: When someone signs up to your forum they’re already subscribed to your forum mailing list, unless they choose “not to receive email from administrators.” A monthly newsletter is a great way to keep forums active & to also generate sales by endorsing products. You can also find decent sponsors for your newsletter if you’ve got more than 10,000 members.

Unique Content: Offer unique content that is only available in your newsletter. Simple yet really effective way to “encourage” list signups. It could be a book you’ve written or tips on a particular subject. Be Creative

Use an Floating Opt-in Box: DHTML opt-in boxes allow you to float in an unkillable popup. This can be used in conjunction with the previous point to help offer unique content that’s only available on the mailing list. You need to be wary on using this technique on blogs as it can scare potential subscribers away.

Set up an Autoresponder: If you’re ever selling items on <a href="http://www.earnersblog.com/url/ebay.php"target="_new"rel="nofollow"title="Sign up to Ebay" >ebay, craigslist or even getting personal emails it’s often good to set up an Autoresponder. Aweber can do this, you can also do it with thunderbird or outlook if you leave your computer on 24 hours a day. Simply include a link to your opt-in list in your email signature that fires off whenever an email is recieved saying “I have recieved your mail & will respond as soon as possible, in the meantime why not sign up to my mailing list for blah blah blah……” Bingo.

Write Ebooks: Naturally you’ll want to look further afield to get opt-in list subscribers than just from your main site. Spread your reach by turning your website into seperate PDF documents with Go2PDF (Freeware). Make sure to include your opt-in box at the bottom of each article. Then start sharing these documents on File Sharing networks & giving them away free in Ebay Auctions. Giving the books resale rights is often a great way to get exposure, include a condition that in order to resell this book you must keep the opt-in box intact.

I plan on including more posts about building lists & managing lists but hopefully this should get your started with some ideas.

Blogging is a great way to hide behind a hidden persona. Many people love it for that exact reason...

Blogging is a great way to hide behind a hidden persona. Many people love it for that exact reason. You can sit happily at your keyboard without anyone telling you any different & live happily ever after.

I can personally say that I used to fall into this category, but over the years I’ve learnt that the only way to get what you want is to ask for it & pursue it.

Too many people will analyse what everyone else does instead of taking a stand & really getting your hands dirty. Especially with “making money online.” 99% of people would rather see what everyone else is doing than to come up with an original idea & test it out. Because that would be too much effort?

Getting into this frame of mind, whilst it’s non evasive is not doing you or your websites any good. You will be losing out on:

Exposure

Links

Friends

Revenue

Joint Ventures

Advertisers

Feed Readers

Email List Subscribers

Conversions

Traffic

It’s time for a wakeup call….
For example:

Jess writes an article, it’s the best article in the world. She puts it up on her blog (that no-one reads) & waits, hopes even prays for lots of people to come & read it, link to it & comment on her blog (she’s really excited). Then a week later Jess sits by the computer, hands in her head wondering why no-one has read her article or even dropped her a comment.

Bob on the other hand, writes a similar article. It’s not quite the best article in the world but it’s linkable & has original content. Once the article is finished Bob makes a shortlist of 50 blogs that might relate to the article. In turn he hand emails each blogger one by one using the following email:

Hi Blogger, my name is Bob & I run a fairly new blog on Bobs Things. I’ve been reading your blog for a while now & it has given me a lot of inspriation to share my knowledge & contribute in different ways.

I’ve written an article on Bobbing which addresses a number of themes that you discuss on your blog & I was wondering if I could possibly get some feedback or even a mention on your blog. In return, if I ever get a good audience I will make sure to return the favour

Kind Regards

Bob

What bob has achieved here has maybe taken an extra 20 minutes of his time. But in doing so he has potentially grown his blog readerbase by 50 people. Thousands more could follow if the article gets published on more blogs.

Don’t be afraid to ask for things. If you don’t ask you don’t get.

This can be applied across a number of different verticals:

Link Exchanges

Do not be afraid to ask sites that are relevant to yours for a link. If they value your website & think the content is linkable then they’ll do it. If you have a rubbish site that is clearly MFA or recycled content then don’t expect a link.

Affiliate Offers

If you’re promoting affiliate offers with reviews then ask for the business at the end of the review. Don’t expect the user to just click the link.

Thanks for reading my review of blah, if you enjoyed the review & want to purchase or find out more about the product please click here.

Affiliate Managers

If you’re running CPA campaigns & pulling more than 20+ leads per day consistently than you should really be asking your affiliate managers to do more for you & increase your CPA. They’ll usually be more than happy to bend over backwards for affiliates pushing “consistent numbers.”

Feed Subscribers

Ask people to subscribe to your feed, don’t just expect them to click the feed button & add you to their feed reader. Have a call to action at the bottom of each post:

Enjoy this post? Then subscribe to my feed for future updates!

Email List Subscribers

Again, if your plan is to get people to subscribe to your email list don’t just plop the box up there & expect people to put in their details. Either ask them to or make a call to action that will make them do it (i.e. giving something free away). Aweber allows you to have autoresponders that will email the free gift to the subscriber straight away.

Social Networking

If you want your readers to digg a story, just don’t plonk the button at the bottom of the post, encourage them to digg it. 15-20 initial Diggs can really get an article moving quickly.

Development Staff & Designers

Don’t expect them to churn out superb work off their own bat. Have goals & objectives for each site that you want them to work towards. Tell them when someting isn’t working the way you want it, get their opinions & work together.

Conclusion

Be proactive with your blog or your website, don’t sit there & analyse everyone else then expect your blog to do really well. It takes hard work, patience & the ability to take a few knockbacks here & there. But it’ll be worth it.

When trying to earn money online it takes time before you learn to understand the power of building an email list...

When trying to earn money online it takes time before you learn to understand the power of building an email list. After all your online strategy depends on your ability to gain new readers & expand your network of contacts. The more people you have the chance to reach, the more likely you are to make sales. Period.

As you grow your list, your marketing becomes much easier. Just like blogging, at the start whenever you have few readers it can seem difficult, however once you build up a dedicated readership it’s easier to attract more readers.

By far the best way to increase your opt-in mailing list is to make it viral. Here’s an Example:

A Marketing Website

People that are reading your marketing website are likely to be looking for more info on marketing or internet marketing.

Offer your visitors a free ebook with 20 marketing tips, this could be anything from better Adsense Positioning to Email Marketing.

Inside the ebook make sure you have a link to your newsletter subscription on each page. You could also have links to affiliate products in here too if you wish.

Have a disclaimer on the ebook saying that it can be redistributed provided all the information is left untouched.

You can even take it beyond this step by have varying levels of membership or having a members only part of the website.

Take a service like Listlotto for example. They have a free service that allows you to build your mailing list by referring other people to the website. Thus increasing the program virally. If you can somehow include this element into your site then your list would actually promote itself!

Here’s an example:

You run a website about recipes.

You create an opt in members section that is free, it’s got access to some extra recipes that aren’t on the main site.

You create a referral program, once a user refers 3 other users then they get their membership “upgraded” to another level of the members area.

You could then past this level have a final section of the members area that is pay only. The possibilities are endless. Especially if you have a good product or service.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. But if you build your list up to over 500 subscribers & do a mailout once a week promoting a particular product chances are you’ll make sales regularly.
