Check Indexed Pages in Google using a Typo

15. Jan 2007 | 6 Comments

NOTE: This has been fixed by Google.Â

I came across this little gem the other day & I’m sure once the rest of the search world get a whiff of it (unless Google fix it), it’ll probably spread like wildfire. So, you heard it here first ;)

Using the site command you can check how many indexed pages you have in Google. Problem is that it’ll also display any Supplemental Pages as well.

I usually prefer to know exactly how many pages I have in the “Normal Index” minus the supplementals.

To do this I used to use: allinurl:www.earnersblog.com site:www.earnersblog.com

However a few days ago I realised that you can actually do the same thing with the site command by making a simple typo.

site:www,earnersblog.com

Notice how I made a typo by adding in a comma? This will return all your indexed pages minus any supplementals :)

If your site is indexed without any www. you can still use:

site:earnersblog,com

Enjoy :)
