Comment Hut, Free Backlinks?
28. Dec 2006 | 35 Comments
It’s not often I get excited or enjoy a free piece of software but I must say the guys over at Comment Hut have made me quite happy over the past few weeks. They’ve developed a piece of software that allows you to scrape through Wordpress blogs by the keyword of your choice then order the posts by Page Rank.
Why’s this useful?
Well incase you’re living in the Stone Age, One way links are incredibly important these days. Even more so when you can choose your own Anchor Text (like on blog comments
).
It’s so frickin easy, you basically load up Comment Hut. Type in the keyword of your choice, it brings up the blogs & you leave a nice comment with a link back to your site.
Few tips for not getting your comments deleted:
- Try & make a useful comment that adds to the conversation
- Don’t just say “Hi nice Site!” it’ll probably get deleted
- Don’t say anything off topic, it’ll get deleted
- Try & not post more than 1 hyperlink
- Try & post links to things that are on topic
I actually picked up a few PR6 & PR7 comments that had no nofollow enabled to a few of my sites. These links would normally cost about $50-150/month on somewhere like textlinkads.
The software itself is a lite version of the main Comment Hut, it’s limited to 10% of the total blogs found & also limited to wordpress only. That being said, I’ve had awesome fun with the free version.
The full version is something like $97 (as all softwares are for some wierd reason….) and it includes Movable Type, Typepad & other types of blogs, as well as the other 90% of the results that are missing.
If the software developer reads this & wants me to review the full version I’ll gladly take a copy for testing purposes
As well as posting results from the software I’ll do an indepth review on a dedicated blog page too.
You can download Comment hut from: http://www.commenthut.com

Nice site!
……..
Ok, now serious
How fast does the software work? Any feature for blogspot too? How many results did you get on certain topics? Even if it’s only 10%, there are a lot of blogs out there. Hence, the full version would explode you with millions of blogs. That means a lot of commenting for SEO

Thx for the great comments.
Send me your contact details and I’ll hook you up with the full version.
Please, provide a 100% unbiased review, unlike the ones that feel obligated for receiving a review copy.
In other words, if you think it’s crap, then say so. I’d like you to rip it apart and post your review for your readers to see.
Thx again,
Stewart Alexander

Hey Stu,
Can you do me a favor?
Please replace all the direct links I used in my posts with your own link and tell your readers to clear their cookies just in case they’d already clicked on my link.
Cheers Stu, I’d hate to see you miss out on any commissions for your hard work.
Look forward to receiving your recommendations.

This software seems really cool, but since blogging software usually tags links with a rel=\”nofollow\” do they really do any good? Very curious to know about this.

As someone very interested in SEO, naturally I wanted to test out Comment Hut for myself. I only tried the lite version, and it works well. The problem is, most Wordpress blogs are “nofollow”. Therefore, it won’t do me much good. Can someone enlighten me as to how this can be worked around?
Thanks.

I don’t think it’s possible to work around the nofollow links – but it might still be useful since people click on your link if your comment is slighly insigtful.

Hi Guys,
Stewart here from Comment Hut.
You all have a valid point about the nofollow tags, they are everywhere.
I cannot make you any promises about what the search engines do and what they don’t do. All I can tell you about are the results.
Without hyping it all up, here’s the deal…
Users of Comment Hut consistently report that they’re sites are getting indexed using Comment Hut.
Remember, it’s not Comment Hut itself that gets your sites crawled, it’s the current system the search engines are using that does that.
Comment Hut finds you high ranking blogs where you can leave your useful, value adding posts.
Note, I said value adding posts.
A rule of thumb when making a post on someone’s blog is to treat it as if it were your own. This way you’ll find that your posts will be welcomed by the blog owners, thus earning you that valuable backlink you seek.
Here’s what we’ve been witnessing before Comment Hut’s release, during and up to today’s present moment in time…
“Some†search engines are ignoring the nofollow tag and listing the links in their results. These listings are then being picked up by… let’s say some of the bigger players in the search engine game.
So irrespective of what we’ve told, sold or led to believe, there could just be another side to the story.
I may sound a little ‘cryptic” and there’s a reason for that, and here’s why…
I’m doing all I can to avoid making any “dead cert” statements about what the search engines can, will or are going to do, because I have no control over that, nor anyone else but the search engine owners themselves.
What I can tell you however; are the results and they have been consistent.
Comment Hut will find you low to high ranking blogs where you can leave sensible posts (manually, no autoposting in site).
Hope this helps.
Stewart

Hi, I tried the lite version. The page rank check feature did not work for me. I got only 3-4 results for some pretty common keywords like “fabric”. Not sure if something is wrong on my side though because noone else seems to be complaining about stuf flike that.
If I can get the full version, I will write a full unbiased review on several of my sites as well as several seo forums that I am part of. Can that be arranged?
Thanks!

Glock is better – At least they have the ability to allow you to choose d0-follow links, where Comment Hut does not. Without do-follow recognition, in my view – Comment Hut is deficient.

I am using comment hut myself and even posted a review of it (before reding this one) on my own blog. I really like the software even if you cant get around the no follow tags so what. You still find useful blogs that you can post useful comments on. Some of these blogs I have bookmrked now on my computer, blogs I never would have found without comment hut.
The real benny imo with comment hut is the time saving factor. It takes seconds to do what would take hours. Very useful and one of the few software packages that is worth upgrading to the full verison.

I actually tried out a couple of progs and settled on G-locks sodtware. ALthough, the software works just fine, there is another issue. Most of the time Akismet is turned on on WOrdpress sites, so forget about getting keywords by using keyword phrases for your name. It Ain’t gonna happen

Basically no follow tag should not stop anyone from positing a comment. While the ranking won’t be affected you still can get quality traffic out of this.

I don’t see any mention of comment sniper. I’ve been using it for quite a while. It’s only working on blogger (google) blogs but it’s still valuable. The only thing that makes using this software a bit troublesome is if you’re trying to promote adult sites, you’re going to find blogs with junk posts and many times there’s dangerous scripts running on the site. I would recommend having your firewall in order and your antivirus up to date before doing this.
