Dave Pasternack Contest Update

14. Feb 2007 | 6 Comments

I had a bit of a chuckle yesterday when I checked out the SERPS & Dave Pasternack held the number 1 & number 2 position for the keyword. It’s hovering at position 1 now.

Dave Pasternack

I think I’m sitting around position 19 or so, with little or no promotion. A few things I find interesting about this contest:Incredibill has been writing about the topic & interlinking like CRAZY. Get he’s still on page 4.

Dave Pasternack obviously has the advantage in the contest as well, it’s his NAME. It’s easy to go around 1000’s of blogs & leave comments like he did on here especially when you’re signing the blog anchor text with your own name (Dave Pasternack). People argue that Blog comments with Nofollow links are useless. Heh.

Threadwatch, Oilman & Graywolf are the only two really still in the running. I’m moving 2-3 position per day or so but probably not enough to catch up before the deadline. So why not give the guys some link love? :)

Final question is, will Threadwatch end up paying out $1,000 to Dave Pasternack himself? Boy that’d certainly be a kick in the teeth.

I noticed you linked Daves comment to your post without a nofollow on the link ;)
Sneaky … I like it!

The wonders of the SH-Autolink plugin for Wordpress :)

Are you searching in the upside down version of Google? Stateside it looks like Dave Pasternack (the chef, not the seo) is dominating the serps. I currently see did-it Dave at #6 and Oilman at #7 (could be a photo finish).

Stuart, actually you can put in a claim for the $1000! Earnersblog is ranked #1 for “Dave Pasternack” in Google France, Google Germany, Google Italy, Google Spain, and Google Brazil, and #2 in Google China. The original contest announcement didn’t specify which version of Google should be used to determine the results, right? So potentially you can say that you rank #1 in more Google sites than others. :)

By the way, what happened to your translation plug-in’s? I clicked on those SERP results in Google and only got the English version.

I was experimenting with the translation plugins quite a bit, however I found that whilst increasing my traffic for international users was good I’m taking away my ranking power for my English pages by diluting the distribution. So I’ve redirected all the translated pages & I’m seeing the difference in traffic without the translation plugin for a bit :)
