Dave Pasternack SEO Contest

30. Jan 2007 | 3 Comments

The guys over at Threadwatch are running an interesting little SEO Contest to rank for the name Dave Pasternack.

Why?

It seems Dave Pasternack has caused a lot of friction in the SEO Community by saying that “SEO is a piece of Piss.”

“To be fair, Danny Sullivan said that anything is rocket science if you don’t understand it. Well I don’t know how to bake a cake, but I wouldn’t call such a task “rocket science.” If I really wanted to bake one, I’d buy a cookbook (the Google guidelines) and bake away. Can you imagine bake shops trying to convince everybody that baking a cake is so complicated that it shouldn’t be left to mere mortals? Ridiculous.” - Dave Pasternack

Apparrently Dave Pasternack is even trying the SEO Contest himself in order to Flex his mighty SEO Muscles at the rest of the community. Or maybe he just needs the money?

If you rank #1 for the phrase Dave Pasternack on March 1st 2007 then Threadwatch will give you a $1,000 cash prize.

Come on Guys, don’t let this man beat you at SEO.

I’ve interested an interesting thing out here in the Blogosphere: a lot of people are commenting on an article that they never actually read.

I never said that “SEO is a piece of Piss.” (This kind of language is not my style: one of my detractors came up with it). I did write that marketers are realizing that SEO is not Rocket Science. And apparently there are plenty of people in the world who evidently believe that it is, and were very angered by this statement.

You can read the original article here. Believe me, if I had written that “SEO is a piece of Piss,” DM News would never have published it.

I think that the contest is a good idea and a good way to test people skills. I got my own entry for the Dave Pasternack contest and hope to get at least to 1st page.
