Do You Squidoo?

10. Jan 2007 | 12 Comments

SquidooI don’t know about you guys but I’ve found Squidoo to be incredibly useful for a number of things over the past 6 months.

  1. Affiliate Marketing
  2. Getting New Sites Indexed
  3. Ranking

Squidoo is a Web 2.0 type social community. You can create a “Lens” & basically fill it with stuff. Links, Photos, Amazon Feeds etc etc

The site seems to get a lot of authority & trust from Google, so much so that you’ll quite often see Squidoo pages ranking for competitive terms. This can make Squidoo a potential Gold Mine for Affiliate Product Reviews & even promoting your own Website.

To give you a bit of an example I’ve created a lens on Squidoo for Earners Blog.

Earners Blog on Squidoo

Check out the Page On Squidoo

Creating this lens allows me to do a number of interesting things:

  1. Add my RSS Feed as static HTML Links
  2. Include Links to anywhere I want with the Anchor Text I want
  3. Do a blurb or Review about the site & include Hyperlinks in there too

I’ve just linked back to the lens from this post which will help it get indexed, pretty quickly I reckon. So It will be very interesting to see how it ranks on Google & whether it brings in any Traffic. Aside from that, I can create as MANY lenses as I want. So for example I may create a lens reviewing a particular affiliate product or use another lens to link to various sections of my other sites.

This is a goldmine for people, here’s an example of a Squidoo page ranking for a popular Affiliate Product (Affiliate Project X):

Affiliate Project X Ranking on Squidoo

That particular page has about 31 Backlinks, mostly from social bookmarking sites (which are easy to get & something I’ll be touching on later this week). With a bit more work, this page could be ranking much higher :)

If you’ve found this post useful I urge you to rate my lens using the ratings at the top & also join the group I’ve created for Earners. We can then help each other by rating lenses & increase the exposure for our sites or blogs :)

I have a lense up here:

http://www.squidoo.com/best-world-of-warcraft-sites/

I’ll have to take your RSS-to-text-links idea and add it to my lense.

Upon your recommendation, I’ve created a squidoo lens on Day Job Killer.

I’ve made a lens: The BIG List of Online Money Making Resources [http://www.squidoo.com/WorkFromHome-Make-Money-Online/] trying to list every resource I could manage to remember/find. There are a lot of link plexos where you can add new links and rate the existing ones.

You can add your affiliate links to the plexos as long as they’re relevant, I won’t change the affiliate links.

I hope you like it.

What exactly are link plexos?

The whole RSS thing is great!!! But finding the right one is the problem.

The concept is similar to that of oondi (http://www.oondi.com) except that oondi will pay out 100% of the advertisement profits to the authors. Their hosting costs are covered by clicks which occur on non-author owned pages like the index but I suppose it’s basically a non-profit organization similar to Wikipedia rather than a commercial one like HubPages or Squidoo.

Squidoo is good for some backlinks, just don’t forget to open an ebay blog too and get yourself a few links from within the ebay site!
