Hi,

I have a problem with reading mail on the web and downloading mail to my mail client. When I read a new mail on the webmail first and afterwards download new mail with my mail client…the allready read mail will not download.
Has anyone experienced this too? And does anybody have any idea how to solve this?

Yep thats true. Yet I won’t make a move yet. I’m not getting lot of SPAM yet. I keep Google as My very Private and Yahoo as my Open mail. he he.. Ofcause each site will have their own OutLook.. Thats how I act.. Hmm.. Yet I feel I’m having difficulties sending mail to my friends from the accounts of the sites. These mails goes to the Bulk unlike Gmail sent mails.. Wonder you know anything about it stuart !

Great post, I’ve bee thinking about this for a while too.

Couple of questions if I may

(a) Why stay with POP over IMAP for your gmail access. IMAP with thunderbird allows you to throw mail into google folders & be a little moreorganised.
(b) With my hosts if I just forward email a copy remains on the server & soon fills the mailbox. Is there a way of forwarding & killing copies of the forwarded mail ?

Good stuff, I made this switch not too long ago and its really cut down on junk email tremendously. Definitely worth trying out if you’ve got multiple sites and want to condense your email time spent daily

If, for some reason, you want to transfer all mail which you downloaded to Thunderbird before setting up this system, to your main gmail account, just set up imap on gmail and thunderbird, and than copy existing mail from thunderbird to gmail imap folders. It’s pretty slow, but works great, and all dates, to and from fields will be preserved. Then you’ll have all your mail under one account. If gmail space is the problem there’s always Google apps for domain. And one more thing.
