I'm working in the pretty competetive niche market of dogs. My site has funny ad supported dog videos and CPA and CPC dog ads. You advice was great, especially the "make your bids 2 - 3 times what you want to pay for a few days" and I'm now seeing my ad position and CTR go up. But I'm still waiting for my banner ads to be approved. Hopely once they are online, I'll be able to drop the content network bids for $0.03 to $0.01.

Thanks

I for one am glad that someone asked for help. I was embarrassed by not understanding it the first time around. I still don't know if I really understand it. But, I've got a better grasp of it. Thanks!

Stuart, don't let the complainers get to you. I really appreciate that you are giving us this information. I think it's a great idea. I have not had time to try it yet, but I'm sure it will work - I can think of a great way it will fit in with what I am doing.

Some people would rather put their effort into complaining instead of trying to make things work. Not every tip will work for everyone. Just be grateful that people are willing to share their knowledge, otherwise where would the rest of us be? I have learned so much from people's blogs and am getting better at the whole internet moneymaking thing all the time. Without other blogs to learn from, I never would have even gotten started.

Sorry for the rant, and I don't mean you Mark, but I was surprised at what complainers some of the articles you linked to yesterday were. :)

haha - if it's a happenin thing, i'll find it. i never doubted you or figured you lied. i know people have little tricks and "insider knowledge" about things. i haven't had any impressions yet, but it could just be because i haven't configured the campaign exactly the way it should be.

also, when i received the $0.02 clicks, i originally started the impressions by paying much, much higher bids on Google Search. once the campaign began rolling receiving impressions, i stopped the Google Search, only used the Content Network and lowed my bid to insane levels... then i continued to get impressions and clicks for $0.02.

i want to be part of the $0.01 click club though, so i'm still working on it.

additionally, i think google does image approvals before giving the green light on a campaign.

i haven't given up on it, and if i can make it happen, i'll come back and let ya know.

i think your post is valuable.

"I've tried multiple campaigns using a few hundred words each over the past few days with the described technique and not a single one has pulled a single impression. Not 1 impression, forget clicks."

Just because I find something easy shouldn't mean you expect to aswell.

That's like saying I find skiing easy to someone who's never been on a ski slope before.

The problem I was trying to address is that everyone expects this information to work without putting some thought & effort into it. If people gave away the exact methodologies to their practices then the market would be saturated.

"That aside, another real problem is that people go away & expect it to be easy."

LOL, we expect it to be simple because, quoting you in the original post:

"It’s so simple it’s not funny."
