Could you hint how you guys do PPC with consumer products?

I am new to PPC and when I analyze competition for any sort of consumer product I find on eBay Pulse I see just the lists of monster retailers listed in Google PPC results - Amazon, Wal-Mart, etc.

Or do you send the traffic directly to the retailer's website?

I have a similar system and collection of resources to do trend tracking. one of the problem with this is a lack of time.
