Tom I feel the same about google images, which indexed all my pictures, and now they are all over the net. I've spent from January to present (Sept) trying to trace my pictures, and have now added a watermark.
Problem is my original pictures without the watermark are out there. I said I would give it a year of trying to trace down my pictures, and now it's getting close to that deadline, I've thought about shutting down my site.

We have tried a JS frame removal. Our Images disappeared from Google Image Search shortly after that. Of course we have removed the JS again. Now we wait and see. Could be of course also a question of which JS code you use. We had used another one than the one mentionned here.

I tried the javascript frame removal method - but it messed up my Google Analytics statistics, and reduced my eCPM!

So I took it back off again sharpish.

Here is another way of stopping people from viewing the full size images on your web site through google image search (and it definitely does not hurt your rankings - at least it has not during the 2 years I have been using it):-

<a href="http://money-from-photos.blogspot.com/2007/06/problems-with-making-your-photos.html" rel="nofollow">Using .htaccess with google image search</a>

Although I have to say that I am very tempted to try the javascript frame removal option - as this would probably work better in getting people to stay longer on my site... I am just scared of getting on the wrong side of googel...

Actually, I regard Google's use of my images in search results as theft. As copyright violation, frankly. My site is mostly images. It isn't a money site really, so it's not about gaining/losing Adense revenue (though there is some adense on there), but it just bugs me that Google displays my full images without my permission, so I disallowed most from the image search (I think. I honestly don't remember but I think I banned the Google image bot in my robots.txt).

If this works, I would let Google index my material and show *thumbnails* like they should, just like they show a text snippet for text pages. I don't want anyone showing my images in a frame, Google or not. I just haven't bothered to put a framebreaker on my site.

Can't use it with WordPress 2+ 'cause it pops you out of the Write Post page. You would need to turn off the preview which is in a frame. Not sure it's worth it.

See that's exactly what I'd be afraid of. Sure, Google Image traffic isn't exactly the *best* type of traffic to get.. but I'd rather have lots than none at all, even if the monetization is difficult.

I've seen a few people say they were getting 2000 visits per day from Google images, then a couple of days after they started killing the frame, it dropped to about 20. Taking it off again, brings them back to 2000.

I haven't personally experienced it, but I'm sure Google could do something about it if they so wanted.

I just worry about messing with Google in any way - is there a chance G may penalize your image /search rankings for killing off their frame? I wonder..
