They took my site down the second it inconvenienced them, I tried to work with them but they made it impossible, I ended up cancelling my service with them and moved to a new host, I was assured I would be refunded my initial up front payment minus what I had used, the second i put in the cancellation form they deleted my site, deleted my log in details and NEVER contacted me back.

I had to chase them up through the BBB after 6 weeks of trying to call them with no answer and email them with no replies and only then did they respond, their response was a load of shit that basically said they’re keeping my money.

Bad company, Bad service and compete lies on what they advertise.

Oh and half their “good” reviews are done by some guy named gene who WORKS FOR THEM.

Since moving to a new host I have not encountered any dreaded CPU limit…which leads me to believe that their CPU limit is either broken or is an excuse to upsell their customers a VPS.

Which should also be avoided like the plague. Here’s a scary thread about their VPS.

Please, be diligent about who you host with.

In just under a month it has become the 4th-most-replied thread in the shared hosting subforum at Web Hosting Talk (out of 53,000 total threads), which I highly doubt would have happened if only one or two people were having problems with hostican.

Many people have shared their negative experiences there, and there is something very wrong with hostican.

More like 10. (And it’s not like we’re the only ones. I’ve seen about 40 people at it in various parts of the web.)

I have a life; we just have different priorities. One of mine is to spread the word about companies that scam their customers.

I started using HostICan in December 2007. If anything like this had come up during my research of this host, I would never have given them my money. I would never have entrusted them with hosting my site, I would never have had any of these problems and I wouldn’t have lost 20-30 hours of productivity (and uptime) trying to solve them.

If I can prevent even a single person from hosting with them, it’s been worth it.

Whatever they tell you – if it’s not working out – they will blame YOU and say you’re abusing their service. Then they will not give you your money back. DO NOT TRUST HOSTICAN

1) They need to fix their servers
2) They need to honor their refund policies!!!

They’ve already done that once before.
Last month, the Shared Hosting forum was literally full of complaints about this. They were all merged into a single thread, which was then locked and finally deleted. Fortunately I expected this, and saved a copy before the deletion:

The problem seems to depend on the individual HostICan server the site is on. Most of the people I’ve spoken to who experienced this problem were on ESC06 or ESC10. (I have reported this to HostICan several times, but it was always ignored.)

I haven’t been able to reach anyone on the phone since Tuesday. They never return your calls and when they rarely do respond to an e-mail it’s very unprofessional and offers no support or assistance. Stay away from them!! Read all about it here.

I’m not the only one having issues. Please read through their forum before they delete all the bad press.

They told me that their shared hosting plans are supposed to be able to handle 75-100 people online on vBulletin, and even more on phpBB. But my forum was taken down with only 5-15 people online.

Initially the CPU logs showed load at about 4% when the forum got taken down. After I took some measures such as disabling attachments, gzip compression and search indexing, I got it down to around 2% during busy periods, 0-1% otherwise. The last time it got taken down, it was at 1.8%. Note that their stated maximum is 25% sustained for 60 seconds.

When I informed the support department of this, they didn’t even get back to me.

Fortunately I was still within my 30-day refund term. After trying to resolve this issue for 2 more frustrating weeks and failing, I got my refund and left. I am now at a different host where I am experiencing no resource problems whatsoever.

My experience with HostICan has been very unsatisfactory.
