I’m having problems getting a new Wordpress install to work with images. Although images upload properly, they cannot be accessed by WP to be displayed, from the directories in which they are automatically placed. Neither can a web browser open them:

This comes up with a permissions error, and also a 404 error. Perhaps this is related to WP not being able to access?

I’ve double-checked the permissions, and they appear correct. The only htaccess files are empty. Any other ideas?

I’m new at this, so apologies if this is simple, but I’ve searched both WP and HG forums with no clear answer yet.
