CariNet Interview
We asked the all the hosts on our database the same 10 questions:
Where are your servers located (Geographically)?
8929 Complex Drive, San Diego, CA 92123
What is your average support ticket response time?
5 minutes
Do your support staff work at the datacenter, or remotely?
Our NOC and support are located right here in our datacenters in San Diego, but we also have International Support (Spanish speaking) in our offices in Tijuana and Morelia Mexico.
What is your average monthly uptime percentage (i.e. 99.9%)?
99.999%
How do you communicate downtime, outages & hardware issues with your customers?
We have a network status page, email, phone, etc.
How well do you handle Traffic Spikes (i.e. Digg.com)?
No single customer is capable of affecting anyone else because we have 25 Gbps and everyone is on a minimum of a dedicated 100Mbps port per server. Those who expect high traffic, distribute the load by load-balancing multiple web servers in a cluster. Customers also have the option of purchasing Gigabit switches and even multi-Gig uplinks so there is no limit to how much traffic you can handle. One of our customers provides political data and during the recent US election, they had literally millions of visitors. They have multiple web servers on a load balanced cluster. If you have the budget, we have the bandwidth.
Do you have measures to accomodate this or do you make the site unavailable?
Our customers simply buy the amount of services they need to cover their usage requirements. Those who expect high traffic, distribute the load by load-balancing multiple web servers in a cluster. What measures do you have in place to help users scale their hosting needs with demand?
Buy a VLAN Cluster with a subnet of IPs and and buy more servers when you need them. When you already have a cluster, we just add your new servers to your cluster.
On a Shared Node or VPS Node how many users do you tend to allow?
No shared or VPS - only dedicated servers
Some hosts offer Burst RAM & others prefer just to offer Guaranteed. Which solution do you offer & why?
Each CariNet dedicated server includes a minimum 1300GB of throughput at no additional cost and each are connected to a dedicated 100Mbps port. CariNet bandwidth is provided via multiple Tier 1 upstreams. Currently, our bandwidth blend includes Level 3, Cox Communications, WillTel, and Cogent. For large bandwidth users, CariNet also offers a number of high performance bandwidth plans. Choose from metered, un-metered, and fully burstable plans to fit any budget. Larger users can choose from 2 un-metered plans, or they can choose a bandwidth commitment level on a 100 dedicated pipe. For extreme users, CariNet offers Gigabit burstable plans.
In 100 words or less, why should our readers host with you?
Better Servers. Better Service. We provide the best service bang-for-the-buck!
