Hi all,I am based in the UK and have been with hostgator for a few years now with no issues of note. I love the service and prices! I’ve been playing around as a web host really but am now ready to get serious. My business partner and I have set up a limited company called Wilbon Group Limited and the web services will be on WilbonWeb.com (It’s currently called CanDoNetwork and my hostgator account is CanDoWebHosting.com but I have never set it up to properly resell as such.)
I have a few questions and would welcome any constructive comments on my best move to take this business to the next step.
I am using the Aluminium plan currently and have a few customers that I am managing myself. I set them up, install the sites and software and then look after them when they need assistance. I do want to offer hosting services in the future but this is secondary to the business as most people want me to manage everything for them and this is fine.
I want to change the domain name to wilbonweb.com (and use custom name servers) and the hostgator account will be paid from the new business account. My concern is my currently hosted customers and how to migrate them across without loss of service to them. I’m just not sure of the best way to do this, hence this post.
Is it easy to change the domain name to wilbonweb.com (I’ve seen the form to do this) and how will this affect my currently hosted domains? I am assuming I just need to update my HG account detail to reflect the new company details and payment info but I’m nervous about DNS changes as I have custom name servers set to ns1.candowebhosting.com.
One of my customers has made C Name, A Name and MX record changes - will this be affected? I was going to just create a new HG account and move them over, but my partner suggested just changing my existing account payment details.
What would be the best way to do this? I was going to hit up live support but thought it may be better to ask in here first.
Thanks for your time and feel free to ask anything if you need more information before advising me on my next move.
Thanks
Kris:thanks:
