Hello everyone, I am helping an ex client of mine find a reliable shared account. She really needs at least semi-managed hosting and I simply don't have the time nor man power to meet her needs at this time. Her current account usage is: Disk Usage: 20 MB, Disk Limit: 10000 MB, 0% Used :: BW Usage: 20 MB, BW Limit: 51200 MB, 0% Used As you can see, she really doesn't use much. She needs a shopping cart. It doesn't matter which one long as it's easy for her to add new products. Basically, she needs the host to install it, secure it, and keep it up to date. This is why I say she needs at least semi-managed. She knows nothing at all about web hosting and installing software. She makes her own blankets and such, which this website is used to sell them. There are NO issues nor worries of copyright. I was charging $54.95/yr for this account. Please post your best offers. I am not setting a budget as in the end, she will be deciding on the best price and plan. She does own the domain but will need an SSL Thanks, Jerry

Since joining Dreamhost in 2006, I have hosted a plethora of websites, many of which no longer exist. Yet, they still show up under my domain directory in my Ftp Client. (CuteFTP Pro 8, and FileZilla). I have tried deleting them from through my FTP Client, and I either get this error: "Request denied. Please verify that the file or folder exists and that you have the necessary permissions on the server to perform the requested operation." (CuteFTP) Or it goes through the motions of deleting the directory, and upon refreshing I find that nothing has changed (FileZilla). I have tried connecting through SFTP, but everytime I try to login through SFTP I get this error" "Error:Fatal: unable to initialise SFTP on server: could not connect Error: Could not connect to server" I am at a loss...? What do I do to take these directories off my server? It's taking up space that I would rather not waste on dead sites. I appreciate any help and assistance! Thanks for reading!
Good Afternoon, I am looking at starting my own web hosting site (using a hostgator resellers account) but have a question. Once purchased, i then obviously need to create a website for my new hosting company as I take it that buying a resellers account isnt a once click setup installation that does all this part for you. So, once my hosting site has been designed: a) Do i have my own hosting package/space within the reseller account to upload all the relevant website files/images etc b) how do i link it all up (my design to the wHM automation) so that once a customer clicks on sign up etc it automatically takes them through the signing up process. I already have a normal host package and will be upgrading it to a reseller account ( i take it that this is the best way to sign up in my position). Sorry not new to hosting, but new to the reselling. Any pointers would be welcome.

Hello, I am trying to setup a Subversion for my project. I have setup the Subversion project through the Dreamhost panel (Goodies > Subversion) about a week ago. It says the project is created and ready to go. (I have "leave it alone" selected for the "add www" option in my configuration) But nothing I do in Netbeans seems to work. I have bad experiences with Tortoise so I'd prefer to avoid it. Netbeans asks for 3 things: 1) Repository URL 2) User 3) Password I am sure I have the user / password correct, so I must be doing something wrong with the URL. So, these are the URLs I've tried: 1) http://www.vantagecp.com/Project Result: org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: '/Project' path not found: 404 Not Found ( http://www.vantagecp.com ) 2) http://vantagecp.com/Project Result: org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: Repository moved permanently to '/Project'; please relocate OPTIONS request failed on '/Project' 3) http://vantagecp.com/ Result: org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: Repository moved permanently to '/'; please relocate OPTIONS request failed on '/' 4) http://www.vantagecp.com/ Result: org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: Malformed XML Netbeans gives an example url next to the URL box that says "http://hostname/repository_path[@REV]" I've worked on projects with SVNs before and I've never really had trouble, but I've never setup my own SVN so I'm a bit of a newbie. I no longer can find it, but it seems to be interfering with allowing WP to upload. 3. If I want to upload files that are clickable by name, how do I do it? 4.
Hi all, below is my first post, my plan for moving a client's hosting and registration from two separate companies to DreamHost. Sorry in advance for its length, and if there are already answers out there - I've done some research over the past month and this is the plan I've come up with. Use it for yourself if you want, and let me know what you think, ESPECIALLY if you see something that is wrong. It's very important that there is no noticeable downtime, otherwise it may become known that I'm not *quite* the expert I claim to be (shh!)… I'll post a corrected list of my steps if anyone corrects me! (please!) My biggest top priority is uninterrupted email - most of the requests for my client's business are done via email. - Am I changing MX records with the old registrar? - Does just pointing to DH's nameservers at the old registrar tell the interwebs to listen to DreamHost from now on, or is this only if the registration is transferred to dreamhost? - I understand that as DNS propagates some machines will send mail to the old addresses and some to the new, which is why I'm keeping the old with the newly-added accounts, but what happens when my client's machines start resolving mail.domain.com as the DreamHost's mail before ALL of the internet is no longer sending email to the OldHost's mail servers? Will this email only be accessibly through webmail or with forwarding to a gmail (or w/e) account? Thanks in advance to anyone and everyone, and sorry the post is so long. Hope to get some help, or at least help someone out there! === CLIENT's MIGRATION TO DREAMHOST 1. QUESTIONS 2. WEBSITE MIGRATION 3. SEAMLESS EMAIL MIGRATION 1. QUESTIONS FOR CLIENT * Who is your domain registrar? * Who is your web host? * Do you have a complete list of e-mail addresses you have (@domain.com)? * What program are you using to access your e-mail? Do you know which protocol you are using to access your e-mail? Could you send me a screenshot or list of all settings for your @domain.com e-mail addresses? * Is there webmail access from your current web host? 2. WEBSITE MIGRATION * Mirror domain.com site hosted with OldHost at domain.dreamhosters.com <http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Transfer_your_hosting_to_us#I_have_my_Registration_at_one_company_and_my_Hosting_at_another_company> * Verify that domain.dreamhosters.com matches domain.com * Download complete domain.com site ("public_html" directory and all sub-directories, in my case) * Upload complete domain.com site ("public_html" directory and all sub-directories, in my case) to a new domain.com directory on DreamHost server * Verify that domain.com site on DreamHost server works <http://wiki.dreamhost.com/DNS_-_Viewing_site_before_DNS_change> * Change DNS settings at current registrar to point to DreamHost's nameservers: ns1, ns2, and ns3 * Wait and watch as DNS settings propagate * Check everything again to verify everything works and looks nice * Double check! * Cancel hosting with OldHost (after e-mail successfully migrated, of course) 3. SEAMLESS EMAIL MIGRATION * "Mirror" (create) e-mail users from list provided above (step 1) in DreamHost panel * Configure any forwarding as exists in DreamHost panel * Configure new e-mail accounts on Client's staff e-mail clients, using same account name with suffix "NEW", e.g., and using DreamHost's mail servers (e.g. sub#.mail.dreamhost.com) to collect mail at new address as DNS propagates * Maintain old e-mail addresses and accounts on client's e-mail clients to collect mail at old address as DNS propagates * Change MX records to point to DreamHost(????) <http://discussion.dreamhost.com/thread-130072.html> * Wait at least a week (for safety's sake) before verifying (how?) that new DNS settings have propagated throughout the web * Double check! * Cancel old e-mail hosting (after website successfully migrated, of course) * Move all old accounts' mail to new accounts' mail in e-mail clients * Delete old e-mail accounts in clients and remove "NEW" (e.g.) suffix from new accounts

Over the course of the years I have used HostGator, only once have I called tech support and had them resolve an issue on the phone. All but one issue had to be upgraded to an "admin", and admin has NEVER resolved a single issue for me. What they DO is waste your time rehashing that which you've already been over with the 1st guy, only this time it's via email at the rate of 2 or 3 emails a day. Then, when they can't figure anything out, they usually come back and tell you it's either your fault or not their responsibility for some reason or other. You are then forced to come to these forums and publicly complain, rehashing all the details for yet a third time, in order to get anything done. In my current case, they didn't even bother to come back with the "your fault/not our responsibility". They just quit answering me altogether. See the original thread under reseller support here . My case is not uncommon. A large number of the threads here are complaints. Yes, they now have a green + icon beside them, but if you look at the subject, that doesn't seem to match with a green icon, does it? HostGator changes them from their original red icons. Yes, that's always after the complaint has been resolved, but it doesn't matter. They still started out as complaints. And that just serves to prove the point that you can't get a problem resolved thru normal tech support channels. Resellers don't have time for, and can't afford this. I heard today that I am apparently going to lose a customer because a "provided" piece of software doesn't work, (Spam Assassin), and now I can't even get tech support to communicate with me. I have been a virtual web host since 1998. In that time, I have used several different companies. NEVER, and I repeat, NEVER have I been with a company that: a. Doesn't give resellers separate, voice tech support. b. Treated resellers like end users. c. Simply stopped communicating. HostGator's "admins" are arrogant, unprofessional, and apparently incapable of even doing their jobs. If you're looking for reseller hosting, I'd certainly go elsewhere. I am.

Greetings, I am interested in having https added to my site as some members are requesting to have this. So I was wondering what the total costs are going to be and what is required to get https working? I noticed Dreamhost has a Secure Hosting option that costs $3.95/month for Unique IP billing. So I buy this and then click Add Secure Certificate, which costs $15. Is this an actual SSL certificate that costs only $15? It turns out that the total is $62.40. Is this all that is required for full SSL and https security or is there anymore that I need to purchase? Thanks

Okay, so yesterday (Jan. 9th, sometime after 12pm) I paid for my hosting pack. I started out with the transfer option on sign up. I followed the directions on the Free Transfer page for my domain name and then sent the request. After that, I received an e-mail saying I needed to click the link to verify my e-mail so they could make sure my ticket wasn't spam. I clicked the link and was taken to a plain white page with plain text that said, "Account already activated." Nothing more. My ticket status says On Hold. In the meantime, I went ahead and paid $15 dollars to transfer another domain name I have. That's done and done, went smoothly. However, for my primary domain it still says "On Hold" and I haven't heard anything from HostGator yet. Is this normal? Do I keep waiting or do I need to contact support? I really just want to know what the status is on my primary domain.

I have a site that was built through Intuit's SiteBuilder/Homestead service. That domain is http://www.ilcs-riverside.org I decided to move away from that service and register a new domain ( http://www.immanuelriverside.com ) and hosting service through DreamHost and couldn't be happier. I'd like to auto-direct the old domain to my new site/domain. I thought I could do that through Intuit/SiteBuilder but after 30 minutes on the phone with their tech support, they're saying that the issue is on DreamHost's end, which doesn't make sense to me. Do I need to actually code an auto-direct page with an <on_load> function or is there something simpler than that? Thanks for your help. -corey
