We started with GeekStorage mid October and were impressed at the speed our account was setup and migrated.

We initially started with shared hosting and quickly had to move to a VPS. There were a few hiccups along the way and most were able to resolved in a timely fashion. Others took longer, but nothing was dire so it didn’t matter too much.

Last month we thought our site was hacked as all of our files disappeared. Our site was down for about 10 hours. We were getting a ton of core files created on our server. They did an adjustment to PHP and the core files stopped and miraculously all of our files were back. Searching via google indicated the files are generated as a result of something being misconfigured in Apache.

Over the last two months are site has started to go down more and more frequently. On occassion our site would have a popular article and we were told that we had exceeded our RAM usage and that was the cause of the crash to the VPS.

Over the last several days, the site randomly comes up wtih a 500 error and then just goes offline. An Apache restart fixes the problem, but who has time to monitor a site just to do a restart.

On the upside GeekStorage has probably some of the friendliest support people around who are even willing to help you on things unrelated to hosting such as modifying an .htaccess file.
