This is a totally impartial review of Good Avocado, we don't recommend hosts just to make money from you. Let us help you choose a reliable host that suits your needs.
Good Avocado Interview
We emailed every host on our database the same 10 questions:
Where are your servers located (Geographically)?
Our servers are located in Dallas, Texas and Vancouver, Canada.
What is your average support ticket response time?
Tickets are answered in the order they are received, with urgent issues given special attention. Many tickets are answered within 10 - 15 minutes, most within four hours and always within 24 hours.
Do your support staff work at the datacenter, or remotely?
Our support staff work remotely.
What is your average monthly uptime percentage (i.e. 99.9%)?
Our monthly uptime is 99.86%
How do you communicate downtime, outages & hardware issues with your customers?
We have a Network Status Site that is hosted in other datacenter, so even if our servers have any issues, the Status Site is up. All information about our servers are posted there.
How well do you handle Traffic Spikes (i.e. Digg.com)? Do you have measures to accommodate this or do you make the site unavailable?
All our servers have some reserve to make sure that if there is some spike, they could cope with it. Also we encourage our customers to notify us beforehand of any expected traffic spikes, so we can make some server arrangements.
If a site receives a very large traffic that affects other clients accounts, we suspend the site temporarily for an hour or two, then unsuspend it automatically.
What measures do you have in place to help users scale their hosting needs with demand?
Our clients have access to all necessary account and website statistics. So they can scale their hosting needs based on the stats.
On a Shared Node or VPS Node how many users do you tend to allow?
I couldn’t tell you offhand - it’s a shared hosting environment, so there are hundreds of clients on each server; which is the same for all shared hosting services - but we use in-house developed account management systems that create a lot less overhead than many other commercially available packages popular with other hosting services
In 100 words or less, why should our readers host with you?
We are a professional Eco-Hosting Company
