Gotta vent, have just gone through the worst hosting experience ever with hostican.com

I have been a customer of hostican for several years 2+.

Recently i had a credit card problem causing my payment for december 2009 to not go through. Upon seeing the failed payment i informed the billing department there was a problem and if they could hold off for a week and put the charge through while i deal with my credit card company. They responded it wouldnt be a problem as i was a "loyal customer". a week later i recieved an email stating my account had been terminated and all my files had been erased for "non-payment", then a few minutes later i get an email from hostican confirming payment to hostican. This was 3 days before christmas. I panic and contact them by phone and email , but get no response, several days later i receive a one line reply from support saying my account had been deleted for non-payment they would try and find a backup, another week goes by with no response from them by phone or email. Today they send another short email saying they don’t actually have backups, and completely disregard the fact they have billed me after i had already been terminated , billed the same amount as the supposed non-payment, minutes after being terminated ..

shady shady shady.. i am at a loss for words. I know there are a thousand lessons to be learned and 1000 things i probably should have done but.. i still feel like ****. I have lost the last years work, the amount of money i was making compared to what i was spending to make it was a slim margin, several days of downtime cost me a months worth of profit. 2 weeks worth of downtime and the complete loss of files will devestate me. I’m not looking for handouts , but i am a single father of 2 young boys , barely making a living. Now i am basically out of a job at the switch of a button. I don’t know what i will do.
