I had a VPS with cheapvps.co.uk, owned by vaserv. The service was fine, but I eventually grew out of it. So i left the server to expire.

A few weeks later, i get an email saying there has been abuse on the server, I dont know what that was, but I hadn’t logged into the server, nor used it at all. I specifically told the person handling that ticket, that I wanted this server to be terminated. He/She ignored that request.

120 spam emails from vaserv later…

I get an email saying someone has files a law suit against me, because I haven’t paid for a VPS:

1. I didn’t know I had.
2. I asked to be terminated.
3. I didn’t use at all.

I talk to someone from vaserv, and they firmly believe that saying I wanted the server to be terminated was not a request for it to be terminated.

I DID request for it to be canceled 10 days before a renewal date, because its much more than 10+30 days since I asked for it to be canceled. So I’m not in breach of the TOS there.

He says I should have replied to the spam, none of the emails contained means of paying, nor means of stopping the emails. If I should have replied to the spam, then he should have replied to me on how to cancel my VPS. Not ignore me, and let me run up this stupid debt.

Anyway, I would say stay away. Im not the first person this has happened to:

They’re blaming everything on me, even though they spammed me with over 120 emails (Still wont admit it), and ignored my cancellation request(Wont admit that either). Because they cannot possible be wrong.

If you do choose to go with them, then you should be VERY cautious about billing and canceling. Because they make it so easy to end up like this.
