One of the main reasons I chose hostgator was because it offered Python.
I was disappointed to find out that the server has python 2.4.3 installed, which is quite an outdated version (2005?).
Python 3 has been out for quite a while now (already up to 3.1.1) and offers a lot of improvements and is much easier to work with.

Whenever I ask about it (either in chat or e-mail support) I get answers like "we don’t have plans either to provide it or not to provide it". Well why don’t you at least consider it?
