I’ve been using a few Slhost VPS Servers since 2005 & they were once perhaps one of the best hosting companies out there. Lightning fast support, amazing servers & the nodes were not oversold.

The company was then sold to Logicalsolutions.net & moved away from the Colo4Dallas datacenter. Unfortunately the move didn’t go quite to plan & many of the new VPS nodes were oversold & ran slow during peak times. I honestly think that the new owners really didn’t expect the work involved with the merge & weren’t constantly on the back foot with issues.

It’s now December & I still have 2 VPS with SL Host (Earners Blog is hosted with them actually), things have stabilised & I’m not getting load spike issues any more. However, Slhost will still never be the company they used to be.

Positive Comments we Found:

• Lightning Fast support (I tested support yesterday - ticket time 15mins)
• Great pricing - 4GB Dedicated for just $149

Negative Comments we Found:

• Service has declined since the datacenter move
• Support is still good but since servers are oversold they can’t make them run as smooth as possible
• SL Host not offering refunds to people who have paid upfront

I would still consider staying with Slhost on a Dedicated Server, 4GB of Ram for $149 / month is a pretty good deal. We made the unfortunate mistake of paying quarterly for the VPS (but that was because we were confident in SL Host’s prior service levels). For a similar host check out our Knownhost Review.
