I have a domain example.org sitting on Server1, the IP address of the server is 192.168.1.224 and the IP of the domain is 192.168.1.216. I am trying to send emails from my web application sitting on Server2 with an IP of 192.168.1.211 using an email address of info@example.org and using 192.168.1.224 as the SMTP server.

All the mails go straight to Spam in GMAIL with the following message :

Received: from Server1([192.168.1.224])
by mx.google.com with ESMTP id 28si19795503pzk.82.2009.09.10.08.27.28;

Received-SPF: error (google.com: error in processing during lookup of info@example.org: DNS timeout) client-ip=192.168.1.224;

Received: from Server2([192.168.1.211]) by Server1 with Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.0.2195.6713);

I have setup my SPF record as follows :
"v=spf1 a a:217.118.130.224 ?all"

I am guessing it must be because the domain is on .216 and the SMTP is .224 so it can’t come back and check the domain exists on the SMTP server but I am not sure of a way around it, I thought the SPF would do that…

Its all fairly new to me so I may well be missing something obvious but any help would be appreciated!
