UKDedicated recently offered me an unmanaged low end P4 server after I asked them if they had anything that would fit my budget, they didn’t have anything available straight away but had one that would be available in a few weeks. Anyway I snapped this up as I don’t really need anything that powerful, have been wanting hosting within the UK, I didn’t want another reseller account and I don’t trust VPS servers (after some experiences with random server freezes on all vps providers I have tried and issues with nodes taking forever to restart).
The server was setup, I had ordered cPanel and then went to set it up. To my amazement everything was setup, name servers dns resolvers everything, no other unmanaged provider that I have used has (Sagonet, Managed.com, LayeredTech) ever set any of this up. I also found the server was set up with suphp which also meant I didn’t need to fiddle about with it. This meant I could get on and start migrating sites straight away.
The speed of my and my friends sites have been excellent, from my home pc I get 25ms pings the sites load fast and I havent seen any downtime.

So far since being handed over the server just over 4 weeks ago I havent had to contact support once, I normally find myself contacting support when setting up the server normall for resolvers if I can’t find them on the hosts support section or forum. Support is fast, they will be hosting my workplaces websites soon so I thought I would ask via email support and see if they could match some requirements.

Some things I will add, the server came with an additional drive which was set up as a backup drive and the server came with 2 gig of ram, neither of which I was expecting. I am unsure if a backup drive is a standard so I havent mentioned it above, I don’t want to mislead anyone into thinking they will get one automatically. I suspect these were ordered by the previous customer and as its not new hardware there would not really be much reason to remove them.

I host a wide variety of sites, a large gaming site running on e107 powered site svencoopcentral.com, a large half life modelling forum hl-improvement.com, etc…

Anyways I absolutly recommend UKDedicated, they are still the best provider I have ever used, always helpful, always professional.
