This is a totally impartial review of Ultra Website Hosting, we don't recommend hosts just to make money from you. Let us help you choose a reliable host that suits your needs.
Ultra Website Hosting Interview
We emailed every host on our database the same 10 questions:
Where are your servers located (Geographically)?
Servers are located in Seattle, WA and Houston, TX.
What is your average support ticket response time?
12.7 minute average response time. We are available via both live support and our support ticket system.
Do your support staff work at the datacenter, or remotely?
We work on site at the Seattle data center.
What is your average monthly uptime percentage (i.e. 99.9%)?
Monthly up time is 99.9%.
How do you communicate downtime, outages & hardware issues with your customers?
Downtime notices are posted on both our 877 number, network status email, support system news section and our live support interface.
How well do you handle Traffic Spikes (i.e. Digg.com)? Do you have measures to accommodate this or do you make the site unavailable?
In such cases as a Digg.com or Slashdot.org link, we have often redirected the domain via DNS to Corel Cache. In cases where the traffic is not too heavy to bring down the server completely we have saved the linked article to a standard simple html file without images to lower the load on the server.
What measures do you have in place to help users scale their hosting needs with demand?
We provide an upgrade path all the way up to powerful dedicated servers when needed.
On a Shared Node or VPS Node how many users do you tend to allow?
On our semi-dedicated servers we limit them to 4-5 clients. On our shared servers it depends on the server hardware. Are smaller servers host only around 150 clients. The larger 8-core processor servers typically can host up to 400 clients.
Some hosts offer Burst RAM & others prefer just to offer Guaranteed. Which solution do you offer & why?
With VPS accounts are allotted one processor. When processor/memory utilization exceeds this we provide methods to reduce this load or to upgrade to a dedicated server that better meets the demands of the account.
In 100 words or less, why should our readers host with you?
We pride ourselves not only on being the most competitive in the industry with a price beat guarantee to back it up, but also with great quick comprehensive support. We are not the biggest, but we have been in the industry for quite some time and are willing to give our clients a helping hand when needed.
