How much do you earn?

02. Apr 2007 | 16 Comments

Eggs BasketThis is the question I probably get asked or emailed the most. Whilst it might be good for a blogger to post or publish their stats online I don’t really feel like it’s necessary. I prefer to write about techniques that can help increase earnings or new ideas that can be implemented & improved, I’m not here to prove anything. It’s also not my full time gig anymore.

So instead of revealing my earnings I thought I’d post a list of which networks I earn a monthly revenue from, this ranges from $20/month upwards to 4k/month & they are in no particular order, some networks may also be affiliate links as SH-Autolink auto fills in the names.

I’ve always preached that you should never be relying on just one revenue source. What happens if you rely solidly on Adsense then one day get banned? Or you rely solidly on a Casino Affiliate then they pass more Anti-Gambling laws (this has happened to me)?

The way I look at things, I’d rather make $200 a month over 40 networks than $8,000 over just one.

Hopefully this list will help some of you get ideas on how to diversify your Affiliate Marketing portfolio, I’ve also added a list at the bottom that includes networks/programs that I’m currently testing for performance:

  1. Adult Friend Finder
  2. Adbrite
  3. Adsense
  4. Amazon (UK, US & Canada)
  5. Auctionads
  6. Aweber
  7. Casinoblasters
  8. Chitika
  9. Commission Junction
  10. Clickbank
  11. Dreamhost
  12. Ebay (UK, US & Australia)
  13. Paydotcom
  14. Textlinkads
  15. USFreeads

Current Affiliate but just actively promoting referrals:

  1. Agloco
  2. Azoogleads
  3. More Niche
  4. Reviewme

Current Networks I’m testing:

  1. Right Media (CPM Advertising)
  2. Kontera

Networks on the List to try:

  1. Copeac
  2. World Niche

I personally wish there were more lists about this about. I LOVE seeing what networks people are using to make their money. Being an affiliate & findings the right programs that work with your sites can be a tough job. I’m currently in the process of putting together a review site for all affiliate programs out there that will hopefully allow people to communicate about positives & negatives with a particular program, I’ll announce it on the blog here when it’s complete :)

As usual, great post! More and more blogs nowadays like to post their monthly stats and how much money they earn, I like the way you take a new approach. You definitely have a long range of different income sources, the more the better, but at some point, I think it can become too much. I prefer to concentrate and grow on 4-5.

This is a very good and helpful list. Looking forward to your affiliate review site!

Nice twist on the typical “how much I earn” post. I think most readers are indeed more interested in HOW people earn, rather than simply bragging about the numbers, so this is refreshing. I’m looking forward to the affiliate review site, too.

how do you get into an ebay affiliate program?

Stuart 03. Apr 2007, 11:14 am

Commission Junction :)

Based on your use of AuctionAds and Ebay, which one would you recommend?
I joined both but I would like to know your experience

Stuart 04. Apr 2007, 12:45 pm

I use Auctionads within websites & I use the ebay for selling informational products. I don’t really use the “ebay affiliate program” as such since there’s no real need for it now with Auctionads :)

I expected to read in your post the usual saying: “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket” :)

Thanks for the tips. I am always trying to learn ways on how to improve my blog and how to reach my goals.

Your in luck. I came across a great site that has exactly what you and I need. It is 100 alternatives to adsense. The url is here http://www.listposts.com/listings/google-adsense-alternatives/#comment-286
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Very true. One should never put all eggs in one basket. Things in life have a nasty habit of happening when you least expect!

So honestly I know you have all those affiliate programs but what is the true way about making money with them? Is it through email marketing or just google ads? I have lost a lot of money with google and have made some. is it through your blog or through your websites that sell? I really would like to get some info on this because I really dont want to just keep coming out even on the budget if you know what I mean. Please email me if you can. Thanks for the blogs they are great and very good.

HI,

You mentioned that ebay is pretty much on par with amazon but working the numbers I found the 70% commission ebay pays to be less then half the 4% minimum amazon pays.

Please tell me if i was to sell a $5000 plasma through ebay buy it now how much comission would I earn. On Amazon I would make $200.
