Link to Me Textbox: Promoting Deep Links within Wordpress
15. Apr 2007 | 6 Comments
Following on from my article last week about Just Asking here’s a handy plugin that you can use to ask people to deep link to your posts.
It’s called the Link to me Textbox & you can see an example of it working at the bottom of this post.
The plugin itself is a nice call to action to have at the bottom of your posts. It asks the reader to link to the post if they enjoyed it & also supplies them with the Anchor Text that you’ve used as a title. If you ask someone to link to your post they’re much more likely to go ahead & do it. That’s what makes this plugin a gem.
You can download a copy of the Link to Me Textbox Here
I’d possibly like to see an additional feature to the plugin where you can set a custom field to pull the anchor text from.
For example “link_text” would allow you to target the anchor text in the textbox & vary it. This would allow you make links into Deep Posts look more natural & increase keyword breadth.
I also like how the textbox seperates the social networking widgets like Bumpzee from the post, I could potentially add more in that space with cluttering things up.

I’ve seen this used on a few blogs now. I might give it a try on one of my more established blogs and see if it’s more than just clutter. For testing purposes, adding a footprint in the rel attribute might be a good idea to see if anyone actually uses it.
