Which other industry gives you this much Freedom?

By now I’m sure you’ve heard of the new Project Black Mask book by the guys who wrote Day Job Killer. Whilst I found the Day Job Killer book actually did contain some useful information Project Black Mask contains a lot of rehashed information that was available freely not so long ago.

The book itself isn’t written by Chris Mcneely but by Alex Goad of Net Frontier Marketing. I know Alex reads the blog here so I’m sure he won’t mind the criticism ;)

Firstly I’d like to say how laughable it is that so many affiliates are willing to jump onto a product so quickly without really reading it first. Just have a look at the Google serps for Project Black Mask.

Secondly I find it very interesting that so many people are now willing to drop all morale issues & promote a Black Hat book. I’m not saying that Black Hat SEO is a bad thing, but what they don’t mention on the sales page is that Black Hat SEO:

  1. Will get your websites Banned eventually, unless you prepare properly
  2. Could get your Adsense Account banned
  3. Could get your affiliate account suspended
  4. That the techniques are almost a year out of date & don’t work anymore unless you have some serious mass & automation.

I’ve read the book, it contains useful information like some stuff about Parasite hosting but it is not revolutionary & is not something that will help you earn $12,000 overnight.

If you trawl through blackhat forums like Simplified SEC you’ll see that the guys without automation & mass are losing the battle to build sites that rank quick enough. It’s not just as simple as throwing up 150,000 pages & waiting for the cash to come in, you need to give that site enough link juice so that 99% of it isn’t supplemental, you have to figure out how to do that without tripping the Google Filters. See my previous post on aged domains ;)

In fact, many Black Hat’s aren’t using these tactics anymore. Just look at the serps for things like buy xanax. THIS is where the serious cash is. Aged domains with a lot of authority ranking for high grossing products like viagra, xanax, levitra etc.

So before you throw your money at this book wanting another pipe dream just remember that these books thrive on the hype the Affiliates create for them, regardless of whether the book will help you achieve that hype is another story.

Whilst the book does have good content, it’s nothing new & nothing you can’t find out by either reading my blog or somewhere like wickedfire.

Very to the point. So many people just think because everyone else wants it I should have it. A common human weakness. You give some real good information and advice. By the way have you checked out the upcoming Postiecon conference in Las Vegas. It is gonna be a bunch of pro-bloggers sharing their knowledge on how to make a good and successful blog.
Keep up the great work. Thanks.
Saul

I wasn’t considering purchasing this eBook, but I know a lot of people probably will. Good job on the review, hopefully it will convince a few people to not waste their money.

I read the e-book as well and was pretty surprised that Chris took it in that direction. I think that the e-book is interesting in how things are explained in layman’s terms but I still think that the way to build sites is by building quality content- despite the fact that many make 10 times the amount of money with MFA sites (I get pretty annoyed when I am searching for something and these sites pop up and rank so high above quality sites) and black hat sites.

Is it worth the $77 price? I am not sure. I did learn some things although I don’t intend to implement them (I like to understand how things work). The videos were far more interesting. I think that if you are simply trying to tie things together (ie. get a working knowledge), perhaps it is worth it. But once again, most e-books pander to those who want to make a quick buck and let’s face it; black hatters don’t simply click a few buttons and then head off to the park all day while the cash is rolling in.

This e-book will most likely be placed on someone virtual bookshelf and collect virtual spiderwebs after the read for most people. Most folks who buy this e-book won’t even try to implement Alex’s strategies; they might entertain the notion but once they realize that the work is in excess of what most novice black hatters are willing to do, they will shelve it.

while i never condone E-books. I would say on any black hat tactics tread lightly. It doesn’t mean not to try them but tread lightly and there could be bannings etc. as stated.

Why bother with black hat seo. It takes just as much time to learn and do all the things you need to do to build a white hat site. AND Its actually something of value for a human visitor. All the tools and strategies are available in one form or another free paid or torrented to create websites and blogs fast. So theres really no need to spamdex or anything like that.

While so-called “black hat” techniques are not as pure as the white ones, the question is, is white really all that white? With Google’s ever-evolving policies white could become black the next day.

Thanks for the honest review, I did consider buying this product but to be honest, the last thing I want is to get anything banned, I want to do an honest days work and keep my reputation. Imagine getting accounts blocked / cancelled and suspended - you would have to start all over again from scratch. Not for me, besides I have read some other posts and this is not for newbies in any shape or form.
