Separate Comments & Trackbacks

This was an issue that was annoying me lately, there’s really nothing worse than reading comments with loads of trackback spam interrupting an otherwise good conversation.

So I came across a plugin that enables you to split the comments & trackbacks into separate lists. This tidies up your comments section & also makes your comments much more enjoyable to read & also reduces excess spam on the page that could have a negative effect on your keyword density.

The Plugin is for Wordpress only, I’m pretty sure that some of the other platforms have this function built in already. The Plugin is called Trackback List.

The plugin basically filters through all of your comments & raises a flag if there are any trackbacks. If it finds any it returns them in a list format that you can call using a different function.

Why do you think that trackbacks are spam, i think it is better to get an answer over trackback, that someone has been inspired by an article of you, than get nothing.
trackback is a good feature, isn’t it.

it is not politely if someone only uses this but sometimes it is better, because of not to spent so much time in filling out the comment section.

this commment takles me a long time too.

Also what I wanted to say is I like your blog.

Hi stefan, thanks for commenting. I would say that 90% of the trackbacks that I get are from Spam Blogs just scraping my content & republishing it :( 10% are actually a webmaster commenting on the article. So I guess that’s the main reason I prefer separating them :)

I would be happy to get a comment I dunno must check some things out need more feedreader u know and also more commenting, now I have put a over 50 articles into a social network like digg, my traffic is increasing and the box is full with my content.

but no comments and no trackbacks, ok some comments but not enough!

what do u aginst stealing your content?

I don’t publish a full RSS feed, in the wordpress options, goto reading & change the “for each article” option from full to summary :)
