some of those on your list do actually use the nofollow attribute on their links. Stumbleupon and Reddit for starters . . .

sorry mate - I was a bit cranky yesterday - its still a very good list and has helped me a lot. There are several on there that I was not aware of.

Just do-follow links aren’t enough. In addition to do-follow, the links have to be direct.

That means: a link to bookmarking.com/?goto=yoursite.com won’t count as a backlink, but linking yousite.com will do it.

There is an directory for social bookmarking sites out there: http://social-bookmarking-sites.com . You can filter the sites by the use of do-follow / no-follow and direct / indirect links.
