Increase Adwords CTR with the Trademark Symbol

Well, Spring has just kicked in Down Under & the weather is beautiful. I can’t think of a better way to welcome in the new weather with a simple Adwords Tip.
Here’s a simple technique I’ve been using for a while to increase Adwords CTR for clients. This works well to help you stand out from the crowd. If you client has their brand term trademarked then start implementing this into your Title & Copy.
Use the: ™ & ® symbols in the copy. This creates a sense of authority & commands much more presence over the competing ads.
For example, have a look at the top ads for the popular Keyword Elite software:

Which would you click?
In a recent campaign for a client I’ve seen an increase of CTR from 8% to 23% whilst bidding in Position 3.

cut / paste from “keyword elite” adword in google search results. HTML &code doesn’t work

Do you have to do it via the GUI, or can you use the adwords editor?

Interesting, but pretty meaningless because you used different ad titles. Now KeywordElite, KeywordElite™ and KeywordElite® would have been probably better to test

I am sure that should make a difference as I have witnessed tiny little tweaks and subtle changes all add up in the end.

I can attest to the fact that this works. I haven’t got the character code down though, so every time I use it, I do a search for “trademark symbol” or “copyright symbol” and then copy and paste.

Maybe my question has already been answered and I’ve missed it but can someone tell me how you write the trademark – tm and registered trademark symbol in lotus notes and iNotes without having to cut and paste them out of a word doc?

It’s ILLEGAL to put a TM symbol (or R or C) if you don’t own a patent.

To Michael Collins’s comment, it is NOT illegal to place a © symbol next to your name if you don’t own a patent. Authors, for instance, do not own patents on most books, but they do own the intellectual property rights to thier work.
