Trick to Increase your Technorati Rank

23. Feb 2007 | 51 Comments

Yesterday my Technorati rank was around 40,000, today it’s hovering at about 4,100. So how did I manage to increase 35,000 positions in just one day?

Simple really. Potentially you have way more links out there than technorati gives you credit for. This probably goes for a lot of the guys that are in the top 100 aswell.

I used Xenu to fully spider & grab all the URL’s from sites I knew had a Sitewide link to Earners Blog. I loaded all the URL’s into a text file & got rid of any externals. I then loaded the full list into the pinging tool that comes with Blogger Generator, fire the technorati ping server into it:

http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

Then just let it run on the entire list.

This technique increased my link count from 888 to 3,100 within the space of around 60 minutes.

Why’s this important?

Well, whilst having a high technorati rank isn’t overly important, it can help increase your value in Textlinkads & Reviewme. But for people who are struggling to just hit the top 100 in technorati this technique has the ability to really give them the needed boost to get right up there & compete with the “top blogs” out there.

Another simple yet effective technique brought to you by Earners Blog ;)

Nice tip pal as usual. Never heard before of Xenu so thanks again. Keep it up! :)

propstm 24. Feb 2007, 2:29 am

so first we pay $97 for bloggergenerator? Um…not me. I’m trying too make a bit of money not spend it. Any tips?

Stuart 24. Feb 2007, 4:06 am

You can grab the blog pinger for free if you check out the site properly ;)

Ben Cruikshank 24. Feb 2007, 4:18 am

Nice idea, I’ll have to give this a try!

@propstm - Just use a free ping service like autopinger.

Good strategy, will give it a shot.

Thanks for the insight !

Update: As of right now, I have a site that was at 1,700,000 that is now 113,946 less than 24 hours after trying this technique. And that’s with site-wide backlinks on only two other sites!

Thanks again Stuart!

nice tricks

I’m not sure how Xenu spits out the sites linking to you. I’ve downloaded it but it seems to be a broken link checker. Why do I have the feeling I’m missing something quite obvious?

Stuart 05. Mar 2007, 11:06 am

Yep you use Xenu to get all the links from your site then you ping that list of links.

Then you can also use it to spider sites you know you have a sitewide link on & do the same.

David Wilkinson 10. Mar 2007, 7:52 pm

I’m using Xenu now to grab all the links. How do I submit all of these to Technorati? I can’t get ‘Blog Pinger’ to work on Vista 64-bit so have resigned myself to AutoPinger. What do I have to submit to AutoPinger? The URL of a text file with the links in?

Thanks a tonne Stuart!

David Wilkinson 10. Mar 2007, 7:56 pm

Also, (while I’m here), how do I export the list of internal website links into a list for the service to ping?

Having never used any pinging services before, I feel like a right n00b. ;)

Babak 11. Mar 2007, 3:01 pm

David, I’m with you on that, lol. I still haven’t been able to get a list of links to me (which I think is what you call internal website links).

The next step, I think, is to download blogpinger and then to cut/paste the list into the txt document for it to read and ping away.

I’m still at step one though wrestling with xenu.

Stuart 11. Mar 2007, 3:39 pm

This week I’ll try to write up a step by step post of how this is done to help you guys out.

Francesco | Guadagnare 02. Aug 2007, 9:20 pm

Stuart,

Did you come up with the step by step post of how this is done?

I was reading through it but I am still confused on which link I should use to ping technorati.

I have got several links from Xenu but I do not know those to delete and those to ping!

Please help!

Francesco

I love tinkering with ranks too :-) You should cover how to lower a website’s alexa rank in a post of yours some day too!

Tim 18. Jan 2008, 3:46 pm

Thanks for that tip. Another good one there :-)

Alam 25. Jan 2008, 7:38 am

Where do i get blog pinger for free then? I checked the website that stuart posted but it’s a paid app only. Not being a tight arse or anything but if i’m only gonna use one tool out of the lot there’s no point in me buying it.

tropicana 25. Feb 2008, 12:05 am
